Questions

Before you run it.

What is an MCP server?+

It is a connection that lets an AI app call an outside tool or data source. You add it once in the app, then ask in plain words, and the app calls the tool and reads the answer back to you.

Do I have to pay for these?+

Most of them want something. Ahrefs, Semrush and Screaming Frog open their server on a paid plan of their own product. DataForSEO and Apify charge by use. Firecrawl and the Search Console server both have a free way in.

Can I connect more than one at a time?+

Yes. Most AI apps let you add several servers and the model picks the tool that fits the question. Each server keeps its own sign-in and its own bill.

Which one should I start with?+

Start with the data you reach for most. If you already pay for Ahrefs or Semrush, their own server gives you their index and handles heavy keyword and backlink research better than a general connector. If you want many kinds of live data from one connection without holding keys, a broad connector like Loadout covers more ground.
